Exciting Upgrades Coming to Netcom – Faster, Smarter, and More Secure Hosting

We’re thrilled to announce that Netcom is undergoing a major upgrade — the biggest we’ve ever done. Over the next few weeks and months, we’ll be rolling out new high-performance servers, a comprehensive backup and recovery system, and enhanced security and automation across all our hosting platforms.

These improvements are part of our ongoing mission to deliver a faster, cleaner, and more powerful online experience for all our customers — whether you use us for web hosting, email hosting, or DNS management.


What’s Changing

1. New Hosting Infrastructure

We’re migrating all services to brand-new, enterprise-grade servers running on optimised configurations. Expect:

  • Significantly improved performance and faster page loads
  • Increased reliability and reduced downtime
  • Improved network latency and responsiveness

2. Smarter Management with WHMCS

We’re introducing a customer portal that gives you full control over your hosting services. Through this you’ll be able to:

  • Manage and view all your services in one place
  • Edit DNS records and domain settings directly
  • Access and download invoices at any time
  • Request and track support tickets easily
  • Upgrade or modify services without delay

This gives you greater autonomy and transparency while keeping our support team available whenever you need assistance.

3. Enhanced Security

Your security is our top priority. The upgraded infrastructure includes:

  • Next-generation firewalls and DDoS protection
  • Advanced intrusion detection and continuous monitoring
  • Encrypted off-site backups for data integrity
  • Modern SSL/TLS configurations for stronger encryption

4. Improved Backup & Recovery

We’re introducing a new multi-layered backup system with multiple restore points, ensuring your data can be recovered quickly and reliably. Websites, emails, and DNS records will all benefit from enhanced redundancy and faster recovery times.

5. Data Centre Locations

Our primary hosting environment is located in the DDCL data centre, where most of our web, email, and DNS services are hosted. This facility offers outstanding connectivity, reliability, and physical security — forming the backbone of our upgraded network.

In addition, we operate from Iomart DC1 in Glasgow, which serves as our secondary site for off-site backups, redundancy, and DNS002. This setup ensures that your data remains protected and accessible even in the unlikely event of an outage at our main location.

Together, these facilities provide a resilient multi-site infrastructure designed for maximum uptime, performance, and business continuity.


Migration to New Servers

As part of this upgrade, all services currently running on our older servers will be migrated to the new platform. This migration will be carefully managed to minimise disruption, and we’ll contact each customer individually with their migration schedule.

All existing customers will have the opportunity to be hosted on our new, high-performance servers. Once the migration is complete, our older infrastructure will be retired and permanently decommissioned. This ensures that every service benefits from the latest technology, improved security, and long-term stability.

If you’re currently hosted on an older system, don’t worry — we’ll guide you through the process step by step, and most migrations will happen automatically with no action required from you.


Temporary Maintenance Period

During the upgrade process, some areas of our website or certain services may be temporarily unavailable. We’ll always do our best to minimise downtime and will post regular updates as we go.
